Orientation basics
North-facing (in most regions) and heavily shaded windows deliver cooler, dimmer light profiles ideal for low-light tolerant plants. East windows give gentle morning sun; west adds harsher afternoon rays that may need diffusion.
Layout patterns
- Place toughest species (Aspidistra, ZZ) deepest in the room.
- Use Pothos/Philodendron mid-room; Peace Lily/Aglaonema closer to windows.
- Mind overhangs, balconies, and nearby buildings that reduce sky view.
Small upgrades
Use light-colored walls, mirrors, and sheer curtains to boost and diffuse light without glare.
