Differentiate fungal ringed spots from water-soaked bacterial lesions so you choose the right fix.
Fungal spot tells
- Round or blotchy tan/brown lesions with darker margins.
- Dry/papery centers; lesions expand and coalesce.
Bacterial spot tells
- Water-soaked or translucent lesions that may ooze.
- Edges look greasy; spread accelerates in warm, wet conditions.
Next steps
For fungal: prune, improve airflow, and consider mild fungicides. For bacterial: aggressive sanitation, reduce splashing, and isolate; treatments are mostly cultural.
