Essential tools

  • Yellow sticky traps: monitor flying pests (gnats, thrips).
  • Hand sprayer: reveal mite webbing with a fine mist and dislodge pests.
  • 70% alcohol swabs: quick spot-test for mealy/scale ID.
  • Phone macro/magnifier: inspect undersides and midribs up close.

Routine scan (5 minutes)

  1. Flashlight + underside check of newest leaves.
  2. Shake-test over white paper.
  3. Mist to reveal webs; place/refresh traps.

Natural follow-through

Isolate infested plants, rinse foliage, and repeat gentle soap/neem treatments weekly for 3–4 weeks. Keep leaves dry overnight and boost airflow.
