Glaucous vs farina
Glaucous surfaces and farina (powder) create the blue/gray look in many Echeveria and Graptopetalum paraguayense. Farina rubs off permanently—handle leaves gently and water at soil level.
ID cues
- Matte, dusty finish that fingerprints easily = farina-heavy (often Echeveria).
- Paler, bluish rosettes that tan/pink at edges under sun = glaucous types.
Care notes
Bright-indirect to morning sun, fast-draining gritty mix, and infrequent deep watering keep the finish intact.
