Visual split
Epipremnum aureum tends to have thicker vines with variegation and more pronounced midrib; leaves feel slightly waxy. Philodendron hederaceum shows softer, matte leaves with a classic heart shape and thinner petioles. Both contain calcium oxalate crystals.
Placement advice
Use hanging planters or high shelves; trim trailing stems away from pet routes. Consider training vines on wall trellises out of reach.
Safer look-alikes
For similar vibes with lower risk, try Peperomia obtusifolia or some Hoya species placed out of reach (still supervise).
