Soft-stemmed succulents

Echeveria and Graptopetalum have fleshy, flexible stems that may elongate in low light. They’re easily propagated from leaves or stem cuttings.

Woody stems

Crassula ovata (Jade Plant) and Portulacaria afra (Elephant Bush) develop woody tissue as they age, allowing them to form bonsai-like shapes. Their texture indicates maturity and good drought tolerance.

Columnar forms

Euphorbia trigona and Cereus peruvianus grow tall with ribbed or angled stems. They store water in their vertical columns and thrive in full sun, making them typical outdoor succulents.
